Appreciating modern conveniences

We are calling our design style “Modern Farmhouse”.  What that means is that we want to keep the integrity of the original style but are bringing it up to date.

“I ran the dishwasher today” is probably not something significant enough for you to announce as an accomplishment of your usual day.  That is the announcement I received when I got home.  For us it was significant. It was an announcement of clear and present progress!

The invention of the dishwasher dates back to 1850 when they were prohibitively expensive and highly unreliable.  Miele introduced the first domestic dishwasher with an electric motor during the postwar boom (50’s).  However, it was rare for a household to have a dishwasher then because of the high cost. Over time, by the end of 1970, it became one of the most common appliances.  Do you know of anyone who does not have a dishwasher in their home? It’s rare.
