Shut the barn door is not a euphemism in this case. It simply means that we like how this door turned out. And, now we are able to close the bathroom door.
If you have been following this blog from the beginning, you may remember that this door leads to the master bath, which was previously a bedroom. This conversion required the addition and relocation of doorways. The new bathroom entry would require a pocket or sliding door of some sort. Those options were limited due to wiring locations and load bearing walls. That was fine because we preferred the barn door style for this farmhouse. This design is very functional for our lifestyle and we like the farmhouse modernization. This door is made from 100% repurposed wood. Unused doors and the shelving from the canning area in the basement were used to build this barn door.
